Surjit Patar Pencil Portrait
Oct 1st

Its finished. A deep respectful feeling is taking over me after uploading this artwork. Finally im starting to draw portraits of the people representing my roots and im happy that Surjit Patar ji’s portrait is one of the first of these portraits. There is a feeling of satisfaction for a making a good portrait and then there is a feeling for drawing something meaningful. Im very hopeful that most of the Punjabies will enjoy this portrait.
I was so taken over by the feeling that i translated one of his Punjabi poems “Balda Birkh Haan” for the benefit of my English viewers… naturally its a very crude translation…. in no way one can express his words in English.. of course im the least capable to do that.. but i tried…
I’m a burning tree, almost done, just till the evening
Still I long for a spring
I won’t stay, but my songs will remain
My songs are water and I’m a line on its surface
I was torn and made into a flute
In the shape of this flute, I’m the scream of that jungle
On a page of fire, I’m a line of daffodils
They are debating if I’m right or wrong
I’m a burning tree, almost done, just till the evening
Still I long for a spring

Jimmy Shergill Pencil Portrait – Commission
Aug 14th
So this is my first commission. I got to do this as part of the promotional deal with the Bollywood movie Tera Mera Ki Rishta.
Lately i have been busy managing my site www.punjabiportal.com which has become exponentially big in last few months. Back in January I was contacted by the director of the movie to help promote their movie online and become official media partner. As part of the deal i designed and launched the Movie Launch Center Website, interviewed the stars and ran some contests. As the facts would have it, Tera Mera Ki Rishta is the First Punjabi Movie ever to be promoted online. This kind of feels historic ![]()
As part of the whole deal i also proposed to sketch the pencil portraits of the starring lead. This was more thena welcome and so i sketched the portraits of Jimmy Shergill and Kulraj Randhawa. Here is Jimmy’s portrait and i have already gifted it to him. To be honest Jimmy holds a more then moderate reputation in Bollywood. He is currently doing a movie with Amitabh Bachhan and one with Shahrukh Khan.. So, im guessing he is gonna hit some big chords now.
Here is the snapshot of my giving away the portrait to Jimmy Shergill
The good news is that this has opened a plethora of work for me in domestic market. I have already got 2 more movies to be promoted. In September i will also be promoting Punjabi’s first music album to be marketed online. Most of the big names in Punjabi entertainment industry have got associated with my site.
Fingers Crossed and intertwined…
Arnold Schwarzenegger Watercolor Painting
Jul 22nd

Every living mortal being has a time in his/her life when he/she gets smitten by the muscles of Mr. Governor. I had my share and for a few months… lets say for a few years all i wanted was to be a human friendly robot… And i drew some drawings of Arnie, this is the only one worth posting here. This is from the poster of commando done in watercolors. I simply adored the Commondo punchline …
Somewhere…
Somehow…
Someone…
is going to pay…
Everyone draws an eye
May 23rd
everyone draws an eye
the figures and reflections
gleam and reflect
cause havoc
and recline
so did i
with hands shaking
calling on pleasures
of the mind
This work i want to dedicate to =RTyson
, a wonderful person and an extraordinary artist of the black&white realms. She carries in herself what i lack… patience… she spends amazingly long hours on her works and i just run through them. The wait has its own pleasure, the pace has its own fun. I wish she stays in her element forever and keeps feeding our eyes.
AFTERTHOUGHT: your eyes are burning holes through me
Wall-e Pencil Drawing
May 16th
mechanics of my heart
are hard to decode
it rattles and grinds
creating non-existing sounds
my eyes drain
devoid of emotions
moving around aimlessly
i paint an image of my pain
…somehow the character wall-e is a melancholic figure to me… the images i have seen, he seems so devoid of hope, so sad and pessimistic. I know nothing of the movie yet, but i concocted my own myth that he is sad due to the hopelessness of humans and the world around him.. like i get sometimes.. an inconvenient truth…
`Nico1 said some nice words to me today… and his words are like the light of hope in the wasteland for wall-e… maybe he is also looking for some people like Nico… to give him comfort from the pessimism of life. We all need some comforting words… and comforting souls. Some souls who are not corrupted by the politics of humanity. This work simply goes to `Nico1 im supposed to draw an Alpha Romeo Spider for you nico… havent had time for that, but until then.. accept this.
Dodge Charger Pencil Drawing
May 15th
sweet decline
the sadness of your smile
i care not to see
whatever lies within me
you look away
i bury myself deep
these hoards of passion
this sadness is me
machine, man and gasoline
heart burning at slow speed
have not, never seen
no believe in my belief
Note: Some of my friends are getting confused about these lines i wrote above. Well actually there is a fourth and concluding stanza to this song… but i didnt post it here. I have been sending it to the friends who are faving it as an appreciation. So dont be confused, you didnt fave a poem, its just me appreciating in my own way.
About the Car: The model that you see here is the 1971 R/T version of the Charger. Since its birth in 1964, Charger was updated in exteriors almost every year. In the base model, it had a small grill with double round headlights. Soon enough the round headlights were taken out and it was given a wide grill to almost no headlights in Hemi version. Actually these were longitudinal headlights designed by Harvey J. Winn.
The R/T ‘71 Charger didnt sell well due to high insurance rates. It was completely restyled with a new split grille and more rounded “fuselage” bodystyle. Hidden headlights were no longer standard, they were now optional. A rear spoiler and a “Ramcharger” hood made the option lists for the first time. A special scoop was mounted in the hood, directly above the air cleaner. Charger still boasts of having an individual styling and has its name as one of the most aesthetically pleasing muscle car.
Dedicated to *anubis46
, to his art and to his humor and to his friendliness. He is almost of my father’s age but i talk to him like dudes and he always hits me back with equal force… we share passion for automobiles and especially bikes. As for his art… im not worthy enough of defining it or elaborating on it. You have to see it to believe it.. its unusual and the ordinary at the same time. Those machines of wonder..!!
The Dark Knight – Joker Pencil Drawing
May 13th
boredum kills and thrives
a painted veil carrying
tongue sharp knives
never understood
never followed the signs
defined walls
of a chaotic heart
seriousness calls
suffer the madness
suffer the crazy dolls
define a smile
breakdown the charade
second attempt, another try
always traumatic
always trying not to cry

=princepal showed me `adonihs’s work [link] on friday. My PC was blown up on thursday, so i didnt have anything to do. So after 6-7 months i picked up my pencils again and decided to sketch joker, taking `adonihs’s work as reference.
`adonihs has done an immaculate portrait and so, this work is dedicated to his art.
