Pencil Portraits

Surjit Patar Pencil Portrait

Surjit Patar Punjabi Poet Pencil Portrait in pencils

Its finished. A deep respectful feeling is taking over me after uploading this artwork. Finally im starting to draw portraits of the people representing my roots and im happy that Surjit Patar ji’s portrait is one of the first of these portraits. There is a feeling of satisfaction for a making a good portrait and then there is a feeling for drawing something meaningful. Im very hopeful that most of the Punjabies will enjoy this portrait.

I was so taken over by the feeling that i translated one of his Punjabi poems “Balda Birkh Haan” for the benefit of my English viewers… naturally its a very crude translation…. in no way one can express his words in English.. of course im the least capable to do that.. but i tried…

I’m a burning tree, almost done, just till the evening
Still I long for a spring

I won’t stay, but my songs will remain
My songs are water and I’m a line on its surface

I was torn and made into a flute
In the shape of this flute, I’m the scream of that jungle

On a page of fire, I’m a line of daffodils
They are debating if I’m right or wrong

I’m a burning tree, almost done, just till the evening
Still I long for a spring

Everyone draws an eye

everyone draws an eye
the figures and reflections
gleam and reflect
cause havoc
and recline

so did i
with hands shaking
calling on pleasures
of the mind

This work i want to dedicate to =RTyson :iconrtyson:, a wonderful person and an extraordinary artist of the black&white realms. She carries in herself what i lack… patience… she spends amazingly long hours on her works and i just run through them. The wait has its own pleasure, the pace has its own fun. I wish she stays in her element forever and keeps feeding our eyes.

AFTERTHOUGHT: your eyes are burning holes through me

Wall-e Pencil Drawing

wallie pencil portrait

mechanics of my heart
are hard to decode
it rattles and grinds
creating non-existing sounds

my eyes drain
devoid of emotions
moving around aimlessly
i paint an image of my pain

…somehow the character wall-e is a melancholic figure to me… the images i have seen, he seems so devoid of hope, so sad and pessimistic. I know nothing of the movie yet, but i concocted my own myth that he is sad due to the hopelessness of humans and the world around him.. like i get sometimes.. an inconvenient truth…

:iconnico1: `Nico1 said some nice words to me today… and his words are like the light of hope in the wasteland for wall-e… maybe he is also looking for some people like Nico… to give him comfort from the pessimism of life. We all need some comforting words… and comforting souls. Some souls who are not corrupted by the politics of humanity. This work simply goes to `Nico1 im supposed to draw an Alpha Romeo Spider for you nico… havent had time for that, but until then.. accept this.

The Death of Art II

nude art, nude portrait, pencil nude, corset nude, leather nude
I see love, I can see passion
I feel danger, I feel obsession
Don’t play games with the ones who love you
Cause I hear a voice who says:
I love you… I’ll kill you…—–from I Love you, Ill Kill You by ENIGMA

Works In Progress of THE DEATH OF ART II WIPs are here

Its been a longtiem that i posted something, the reason being my job and other projects in my hand. This work i started a longtime back and couldnt find time to finish. But finally its here… the lack of continuity clarly shows in somehow low quality of the work.. i could have done better.

Dedicated to my newly found friend ~Little-kaiyou-Kame :iconlittle-kaiyou-kame:. She is funny and really witty.. and actually earlier i thought she was he… which i usually do…. my bad. Hope we will have lots of laughs to share in future.

Why You Drew Me?

pencil drawing of a female, bmw z8 and sony ericson p910i

Ah, it ain’t so easy is it? You almost lost your place.
And perhaps you’re wondering how you’re going to cope with your disgrace.
Well your wealth is well established and your friends were never few,
And all the things they told you of you’re finding to be true.
Well if truth can free the guilty while the innocent must die,
Then I respect, respect, respect the coldest lie.

—– from “Respectable” by Don McLean

EDIT: Well as i said earlier, i wasnt happy with the blank background, so i drew this drawing book in the back. Those torn pages in the upper right corner and the ruffle in the lower left corner has been drawn with the pencil.

An experimental portrait I did in the beginning of this year. I drew a BMW Z8 car model next to the portrait and my personal cell phone Sony Ericsson P910i. Not sure why I drew this work and what was the motivation… I guess i just did. I don’t know the model in the portrait, if someone does, do let me know.

This one goes to :iconrita-ria: Rita-Ria, a very good friend of mine and a jolly good fellow to have around while you think no one at DA likes you. She is a great conservationist and its always fun to have long convos with her.

AFTERTHOUGHT: If you are too stubborn, everyone is at you like shit, and if you are too nice, you are the shit.

The Death of Art – I

The Death of Art, nude pencil portrait, artistic nude

This work’s original dimensions are 5 by 8 inches. This would be mine miniature portrait. I may draw some more to prove my point, though im not sure when that will be.

I want to dedicate this work of mine to bushdog aka Frank, the admin of =stock4figureartists club. A few days back he personally invited me to join the club, Though then i told him that im not into nude art, but this has happened as a coincidence that i drew this one. His club has just celebrated its first birthday, I guess this would be the best dedication.

AFTERTHOUGHT: a Punjabi couplet:
“Lookan dian nighahan to bachke khata kar ta lawaan,
Par apne-aap to chehra lukawaan kiwen?”
Translation:
“I could hide myself from people’s eyes and be mischievous,
But how can i hide my face from my own?”

Tommy Gun Portrait

The most recent. That’s Robert Stack as Eliot Ness in -the scarface mob-. On the latest there had been some mafia movies and documentaries that i saw and not to forget the game by illusion software: MAFIA, which I had just finished.

After drawing Jennifer Lopez and some other portraits (not published yet), skepticism arose that maybe these hands are just good at faces and hair. Thus a full figure was tried and the result is right here. The face is not important here but everything else is: drapes behind, the floor, carpets, the door and of course the tuxedo.

Dedicated to the lord of scraps ~Xero-Tau :iconxero-tau:who is real good at what he draws with his pencil in his sketch book. His sketches are that of dudes that we see in everyday life around us and some are straight out of fantasy game worlds.
